Default Transmission Retainer Plate

I can't stop a leak I have around the cluster gear shaft at the rear of the transmission. I have an early transmission with the thicker retainer plate. The descriptions for the transmission seal kits state they will only work with the thinner 1/8" plates. I've tried sealing with the blue silcone "gasket makers" but eventually it leaks again. Does anyone know whether the available seals can be re-machined to make them fit? I'm tempted to re-seal around the shaft with JB Weld. Any advice is much appreciated.

Lets start off with this...

1. What weight oil? The transmission was engineered for 600wt, very
thick, and hard too pass between to machined surfaces.
2. No mater what you stick back there, if the surfaces are not clean
and dry, ( this includes the shafts inside the case ) it will leak.
3. JB Weld is a poor band-aid and I believe it will leak also.
4. I have used Loctite 518 with excellent results....but the gear box
needs to be done on the bench!
