Default cast iron rocky man brake drums

I am getting ready to turn a couple of rocky mountain cast iron brake drums. How far over, can I safely turn them? I have oversized lining if I need them..... Just wondering what you guys think?

Standard is 11" .O60 is the generally accepted over size maximum, so 11.060. Large trucks with very heavy drums .090 but they are often marked for max Diameter.

Vermin had like new, woven linings & NOS Steel Drums, that were a perfect .010 oversize. Is it common that they came .010 OVERSIZE or "maybe" these have been turned???

The late 31 cast iron drums like that are my drum of choice. The hubs are integral and don’t have the issues the steel ones do.
Those particular drums you can take a little more meat out of. No problem going .080 and even a little more. Yes I would recommend overdue linings at that diameter. Arc the shoes to fit the drums and make sure they are centered up .

I do lots of brake work and they are excellent drums if you can find them. The rears are even harder to find and are excellent as well

my opinion unless the drums are out of round I would not turn them or if real bad just cut enuf to smooth them out and leave any deep groves the shoes will wear in and work fine most places take off way too much metal

To clarify my comment above. When I said take meat out of the drum I meant that they can be used a little more oversize than steel drums. I would only turn to clean up true. You will be better served cleaning them up a little in my opinion as opposed to being out of round.
I had one that I didn’t true and was nit happy with the stopping power from that wheel. A light cut gave a fresh surface and all was well
