Here in Florida we have REC 90. Non ethanol gas. Most folks use it in their RV’s lawn equipment, generator etc. little bit more expensive.

Try puregas.org I believe that site lists gas stations that sell ethanol free gas. Some places it’s not easy find.... Mark

I find gas with no ethanol in areas where there is a lake and boaters. Most folks use non-ethanol gas in their marine engines. I pay a little more for it but it has cut down on my fuel problems and having to replace carburetors on small engines and lawn equipment.

I echo the earlier reply. People's ears sometimes close when you ask about 'ethanol-free-gas'. Instead, be looking for 'marine-grade-gas'......two different ways to say the same thing!

While traveling through PA on Rt 80, I stopped at a Wawa. They were offering ethanol free gas. It was approx. $0.80 more than regular gasoline. First time I ever saw it in the "wild".

I could be wrong, but aren't government subsidies attached to ethanol and their use in gasoline?

Here in Oregon I buy it through my distibutor and they call it Clear. Just had 500 gals delivered and I paid $1.58 a gal. I'm paying $1.08 for diesel for my trucks before tax.

When I heard about it here where I live ,,I let the Wooden Car get extra low on fuel ...
I filled it up and headed home...There’s a long hill on my route home ...I could feel the difference as headed up hill .....I used to have to almost floor it to hold the speed ....
When I pulled into the driveway ,, the idle speed was noticeably higher ...
I use it in all my yard and garden equipment .....!!!

Lot's of guys around here go to the local small airport and buy Aviation gas to run in their mowers and chainsaws. Open to the public 24 hrs a day, takes credit cards. Also I'm told is good to use in your old cars that don't get run much as it has a long shelf life.

Not sure about US stations, but 91 octane at most of the stations in Canada is ethanol free. The problem is, and it is small, is that most pumps have one dispensing hose, so you probably get a half gallon of whatever the previous person bought.

I've been using 10 % for years and years and more years. Never had any fuel system problems. The gas I put in in October is the gas I use to start the car in April. Always started - no carb, fuel pump or tank problems. Don't use any crap like Sta-Bil either. Why the complaints?

JU88 was quite a formidable bomber.

On the subject of petrol...sorry gas. here in NZ the majority of our stuff has no ethanol. We have 91, 95, 98 (RON) Octane rating and some stuff called "Force10" which is an ethanol blend that only one company (Gull) supplies

There is a few videos on YouTube showing how to remove ethanol from gas but you would probably need to really want ethanol free and have no access to go thru the process.

Fill gas can with gas. Gas can needs a valve on side at bottom. Add water and a little food coloring. Let it sit overnight and the ethanol binds to the water and both settle to the bottom of the gas can. Without disturbing(shaking or moving) open the valve at bottom of gas can and drain out water until the color changes. All the colored water is out and only ethanol free gas remaining. This does affect the octane as it is calculated with the originally added ethanol. You can add some methyl hydrate if worried about any lingering water. Like I said, a process, u gotta really want it. Especially if you want any kind of quantity...

I just use 91 or 94, only thing in BC that is ethanol free - except Petro Canada, has ethanol in all grades and the highest percentage of any gas station.

This was discussed extensively on the H.A.M.B. a couple of years ago. The conclusion was that it is not economically feasible and to do it in the quantity required in any significant amount requires manipulating large amounts of very volatile, flammable commodity.

by law its supposed to have a sticker on the pump telling you what you are buying. i run whatever in my cars, but the chainsaws and small engines get real gas from a pump that states "non oxygenated, ethanol free" . i dont know every state, but its not hard to find here in the swamp

Same here. It's worth it for me. When I hit the starter and the engine fires up instantly instead of cranking for minutes, you'll understand the difference. Ethanol is a politicians way of buying votes.

Lucky guy I guess, I have had a lot of issues! I stick with No-ethanol and I am much happier with the results. Ethanol attracts moisture. The fuel is easy to come by where I live because of farm and lawn & garden use.

Old photo, prices are much cheaper now!

I too will run the non ethanol as long its available. I let lots of things sit idle too long and the old stale gas is a stinking mess but mess with this ethanol is whole other mess. I bought a mower off of a fellow at works grandfather. His Grandfather is one of those people who use nothing but the cheapest gas. I wish I could show you what the inside of the carburetor looked like! It was a black crusted up web of mess. No cleaning this mess. New carb! Sure glad they didn't have ethanol years ago or we couldn't save any carburetors! Steve

The water pours out the tailpipe when running moonshine gas, it’s crap but the company buys it to put in their truck. kwikfill in West NY has real gas, I put it in my old Colorado and mileage better, but no gas motor now, still go out of my way for real gas for mowers, atv, and flatheads.
I hear it takes gallons of diesel to make a gallon of moonshine they put in our gas.

It's expensive, but I use 94 octane AV gas from the local airport in all the small equipment, and in the roadster,(old 59AB stock car motor from the 1960's). The engine loves it and hauls butt for a pretty much stock motor with an aluminum flywheel, Navarro heads, 21A ignition and single 94. Last time AV gas was about $6.00 a Gallon. It has been less, and I expect when things settle down the price at the pumps for weasel pee at $1.80 a gallon will translate into less fir AV gas.

Here in the Chatt TN area we have non ethanol gas at some stations, not all but some. I always use it in my small engine mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, etc. I mow over an acre about every 5 days and have always used non ethanol gas in it and it is 20 years old.
no problems so far.

No ethanol in the fuel here in Alaska, the best octane is only 91. my Harley's are supposed to run on 93, but they run ok on the 91. regular is 87 octane. not sure anymore what av gas is anymore, I haven't bought any in several years

Because they know it's better gas and recreational folks want it. Like diesel it should cost less to make but they charge more. It takes more energy and cost more to produce 1 gallon of ethanol gas than you'll ever get out of one gallon of ethanol gas.

Here is a link to help you find non-ethanol gas. Make it one of your favorites.

https://www.pure-gas.org

Before I travel I always print out a list from the states I will be traveling through.

And if you stop at one of the stations and they no longer have non-ethanol, you can contact the site and have them make a change. Or, if you find a station that has non-ethanol and it is not on the list, you can notify them to add it.

Here in Kansas non-ethanol is normally the same price as premium, not that much different.

If it's needed, most street flatheads do not run high enough CRs to require high octane fuel. And most stock engines run fine on very low octane fuel, which is what they were designed for.

Bought some racing fuel last week @7.78 per gal. Ya want to play ya gotta pay. I think about whittling more every day for a new hobby. Did do it as a Kid to make my own toys.

Most all avgas in the USA is 100LL or 100 octane low lead which is blue in color for identification. They reduced the amount of lead to a minimum for 100 classification so that is will burn well in engines with 8.5:1 to 10:1 compression ratios without lead fouling the plugs too bad. It was adopted from 100/130 which was green in color but had too much lead for the smaller engines of 720 CID or less.

The guys that still run the big aircraft engines like the 1820 through the 2800 can generally still get by with 100LL but many have fuel specially blended for them at an increased cost. The big 3350 and 4360 engines really need the 115/145 purple avgas to run well. They run cooler with it since they had problems with overheating during their development back in the day. The cost of running the big B-29 like FIFI or the 1049 Super Constellations has got to be astronomical. I wouldn't want to pay that bill for sure.

You are correct. Big time subsidies...
