What now??
hi guys, just completed the installation of manifolds and my rebuilt carburetor, thought the test ride was doing OK when i had the no start issue. that turned out to be a bad condensor. went for a test ride today all was going fine and as i'm pulling into my drive way i noticed the amp meter pegged on the high end. [i think 20 amps]and thought i saw a couple of flashes inside the meter?? so i shut her down and the amp meter is pegged at 20.tapping the meter it went down to 10 and thats where it stayed. before i start fooling with it any advice from you guys would be appreciated.

Re: What now??
Aftermarket ammeters are known to have poor connections on the internal studs. Which causes to much resistance. Resistance equals heat which equals fire. This can be fixed by taking it apart and quick soldering the connections which should give you 0 ohms across terminals. In your case the gauge is probably toast. Look for a good working original ammeter. Good luck!

Re: What now??
Awhile back I remember posts on the Ford Barn about a batch of bad repro ammeters , with issues you have , if possible look for a good used original if possible,I don’t know if anyone rebuilts them.

Re: What now??
Play it safe and assume nothing. Check all for short circuits / failed components.
