Default 34 front fenders assembly

I would like to know the proper procedure for assembly of front fenders center section assembly & the triangler shape pan, also the front fender tie that ties front fenders together. Thanks Stan

Not like this; the pan actually goes under the fenders; see DavidG's post with the correct info.

Nope, originally the pan was on the bottom of the fender flanges, not on top.

That makes more sense to me. It also would reinforce the fender edges

Thanks for the correction.

Guess I should have researched putting these mangled pieces together.

Here's a phone showing the apron on a super-low-mileage '33 roadster (all original paint, upholstery, and even the top).

the lower peak bolts areas are raised, so there would be a gap if placed on top.

This pan was bent up, ripped, and further messed up by a previous "metal-man". Guess we "tuned" it up enough to do the job; but in the wrong place. Anyway the grille fit with no gaps.

Thanks for posting this, David. I can see a few things here that interest me.
Only one bolt goes through from the outside in. I presume this is the only one that screws into the grille, correct?
The other bolts go from the inside out, with a nut on the outside. Were these some sort of low profile bolt? I am thinking a full headed bolt would interfere with the grille??
There is a lower shroud that encloses the lower radiator tank. This piece seems to be missing completely on my 33.

Thanks again.

Mart.

Mart,

Very observant! Yes, only one bolt goes all the way into the D nuts in the grille itself. There are recesses in the grille perimeter to clear the heads of the other two fasteners per side.

Not attached below because they exceed the site's pixel limits are photos of an example of the '33 lower radiator apron (with surface rust) that shows up in my photo above. The tired black one in the photo is the '34 version for comparison. The '33 version has two D nuts on each upper rear corner for the attachment of the front of the inner fenders; the '34 has but a single hole for that purpose and no D nuts. The radiator sits on top of this apron, the bottom of which rests on top of the front cross member where the radiator is attached. Please provide me with your email address via a PM and I'll send them to you.
