Default One that came home today :)

Ha! I'm willing to bet most of you guys figured it was yet another '39 or '40 Ford.
Nope, not even close.
This car was purchased from the original owner in 1968 and has been in our family since then.
I'd restored it in 1997 as I recall - maybe '96. It was driven about 250 miles over the next eight years or so and put back in storage. Just today, I have finally brought it home.
It was an extremely solid car... zero wood rot, the only rust was in the front fender spare tire mount wells.
In fact, the upholstery was so exceptionally nice, I did not replace it. Even the silk shades in the rear seat are are authentic and beautiful.

Please don't hate me as I have strayed.

Mike,

Gorgeous, GM or not. I've always liked the five-passenger coupes of the early '30s and once had a '31 Lincoln version.

Thanks Dave & Brian.

This is a series 90 opera coupe. 132" WB.
I can't think of any car company that didn't build beautiful cars in '31 - '32.
I still have one car (just one) remaining on my bucket list. A '32 CL Chrysler Imperial Roadster on a "short" 146" WB. Even when new, those cars were more rolling art than a vehicle.

Mike,

My '31(s) have an even "shorter" WB of a mere 145". Regardless, they are all pretty handsome of that era (and take up a lot of space in a garage.)

Mentioned was a 1932 Imperial.
Though it is an off topic car, I just had to find a picture.
What a rolling piece of ART, wouldn't ya hate to be seen driving this. NOT

Beautiful car! I agree that early 30's styling among the car companies of that era remains to this day unmatched. It's amazing these were created during the Great Depression. How about some more pics of that Buick?

There is something special about those classic era long wheel base cars. I played with Packard's for a short while, had a 134"er, and a 126" er. long hoods...rode like a magic carpet ride. you knew you were in a rich mans car. The 90 series Buicks are right up there on that same scale. congrats Kube, nice car

Gorgeous car that's in good hands.

I don't know much about the Chryslers or GM's of the 30's era, but I do recall seeing a beautiful Chrysler '30's-ish roadster that had a small golf bag compartment behind the drivers door.

It just screamed rich man's car and I loved it!

Robert,

Since I am partial to '31 Lincolns, my choice of convertibles would be this Waterhouse-bodied beauty. The Waterhouse grandson was a colleague of mine at Ford.

Like the Chrysler of my dreams, this Lincoln is not a mere car - it is stunning artwork.

a 90 series! fantastic................ up there with the big boys.

that chrysler has the looks of a duesenberg. also very very nice.

once had a 1930 model 58 buick and was the best car I ever owned, till now, I have a model 68 buick. same body style as yours, but not quite as luxurious!

My 6 cylinder puts out 100 hp, which I believe your car puts out about 120hp, but you have the 8 cylinders. a great cruiser.................

Here ya go. Truthfully, I forgot just how nice this car is. Tough on the ol' memory bank this getting older thing...
The interior is the original with the exception of the left - front seat. This car was purchased from the original owner.
In the 1950's, the owner had removed the passenger front seat to stack crates of eggs in the car to go to market. Well, you know what happened ... the seat was lost.
As I recall, it took a number of years to find another. That seat came from Canada and again, if memory serves, it was unique to the '31 big series coupes.

Thanks Kube. Stunning! I could easily take a nap on that inviting sofa of a rear seat. It exudes comfort and luxury. They sure don't make'em like that anymore.
