Let me correct myself here. The washer OD must not be larger than the actual serrated area of the machined block or the washer cannot seat properly to be crushed.

Ah, the Dorman part number I referenced earlier had too large an O.D. That may be why they did not seal. They were also a little thicker. The Ford part 2154 is barely bigger than the hole and thinner. I swear the last time I ordered them, they had the concentric rings on the flat part already. I have some more on order so will take a close look.

If they are serrated, please let the board know.

FROM POST #5

Well I was able to find some Dorman washers that fit snugly over the shoulder. These had a larger O.D. than the original and were a little thicker. For anyone interested, the part number is 097-829CD, and are described as M12 • 1/2” (1.3 cm) S.O.
That was just a mistake on my part. I a$$-u-me(d) that whatever replacement you would find would have the same OD. That and I can't read and retain.

It appears you have the engine bay well detailed. A few finished photos will be nice ...

Thanks for the pointer to NAPA. I had no luck at Autozone, Advanced Auto and O’Reilly.

The part that was an exact fit from NAPA was:
Part Number: 1244

On the box of quantity 10, this was printed:
1244

1947 (10)
Copper Gaskets

Hope this helps.
