Default Tire Pressure

What pressure should I run in the 30X3 tire, and how much in the 30X31/2 Thaniks in advance.

Sounds high Jack. Doing some further checking. So far 50 to 55 seems the norm. I run 50 in the 3 1/2's.

My 30x3 1/2 called for 70.

I've had a bunch of 30" Ward's Riverside tires on the road over the years and they were always happiest at 65#

No one I've checked with is at 70. That doesn't mean it's wrong. The usual running pressure mentioned is 55 to 65 and fewer were at 65 than 55.

The rule of thumb is generally 20 psi per inch of tire width for clincher tires -- 3 1/2 X 20 = 70 psi.

With really good rims & very sound tires you can try to run less but the risk of heat & rim cuts increases as pressure decreases.
