Default Clearance between Piston and head???

The piston hits the head with no gasket so how much should I take off the head inside the combustion chamber on the head. This is a Z head.I think I'm a little to close to be safe.It don't hit with a head gasket? My brother Mordecai got mad and got in his T and went home.He scared of the head to close he says?

If you put strips of clay on the top of the piston than put the headgasket and head on give the crank a turn and it will tell you what the clearance is
