Default A-team performance distributor issues

Hey guys,
I got an a team performance ready to run distributor from southwest performance and have been having issues. I have been i contact with their tech support but they are absolutely no help at all. Anyways my issue is at steady high rpms I have a stumble and if I line the dot on the crank pulley up with the needle on the case it has 0 acceleration, but if I turn the distributor counter clockwise the acceleration gets better but then I have the stumble and the dot is farther away from the needle.
I have already moved the accelerator pump adjustment to see if that helps or hurts it. Has anyone ran into this issue before or have any ideas of what my higher rpm issue can be?
Thanks

That is a complicated distributor, with both mechanical and vacuum advance, plus an array of springs and bushings to tailor the advance curve. It needs to be set up by an expert on a machine, with some knowledge of the cam.

That said, stumble at steady high rpm does not sound like distributor advance or timing. unless it is a week off. Could be coil, plugs, or ignition cables, but more likely a carburetor/fuel problem.

Are you sure the plug wires are in the correct position on the distributor? And the distributor is installed correctly so the rotor is at the #1 plug when the timing marks are lined up?

SBC distributor converted to 8BA seems to me an easier way to go....all wear parts
at NAPA.....5000 rpm capable.....total adv and rate of adv adjust w/o removal (no
goofy bushings)
I'm biased,

If it were me,I'd start by installing the gold (lightest) springs and the black bushing.

Then start the engine and set timing to 25 deg at 2000-2500 rpm. Slow it down and check at idle.

Leave the vac advance unhooked for now...need to dial in the mech advance first.

Go for a drive and see how it behaves.
