1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Everywhere I checked is out of stock on windshield frames for my car (34 Tudor). The one I have is fair but the bottom piece is pitted internally and I'm doing a "keeper" build, so I don't want the frame rusting through in a few years and I don't immediately see a way to treat the inside of the frame.
Does anyone know where I might find a new frame? Most everywhere has them on backorder and I have no idea how long they have been and will be on backorder. I prefer plain steel but I guess I would buy chrome. Thanks for your help. |

Did you try N/C industries in Sayre, PA? They're the best makers of reproduction windshield frames. Google them for contact information.

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Apparently, I can't reply to your PM yet because I dont have enough posts.
The frame I have has steel brackets at the top of the frame that attach to the hinges. These appear to be spot welded to the frame. I bought this car disassembled and am learning as I go. Does the frame you have have separate brackets? How are they attached? What are the corner pieces for?. |

The die cast corner pieces hide/fill the joints between the upper portion of the frame and the lower horizontal portion and are widely available as reproductions. |

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
The frame I have is from NC Industries.
The "batwings" are not included from them. They were often spotwelded and screwed. If you can salvage yours they should work fine. The corner beads are included from NCI. |

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Is yours orig? If so it is a "keeper". If not orig, post a 'want' ad.
You'll 'pass on' before yours 'rusts through. Truly. Or, pour hot tar to coat where you cannot access; rust doesn't progress if there are no elements; i.e., water, humidity, salty air, et cet et cet. Thank you for listening. |

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
As Karl mentions, if the hinge brackets are both spot welded and screwed in place, it's the real deal as no one would duplicate that degree of overkill.

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Ok. Someone on here used to make replacement corner brackets, I believe. Are those still available?

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
The corner brackets, or trim I would call them, are available from most all the vendors. The hinge brackets have never been made to my knowledge, you need to find a rotten frame to steal them from if yours is too good to hack up

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
No. I'm talking about the corner brackets that hold the frame together.

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Opps ! yes, I should have realized that. There was a guy making those corner irons, I forget who, but I wrote him a couple years ago asking if they are still available and got no response back. Maybe someone else will know

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
How to tell if it is original, how about doing a very-slow video; no quick up'ndown/back'nforth (which is EZ to do when filming, as we all know,) and close-up filming, so those-in-the-know experts on this subject get a good idea of what you have.
They will tell you if it is an original, along with good advice. Good luck; you've got good luck already, w/ the sage replies . . . If thrs no emergency, take your time and find out just what you have. |

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
If the hinge brackets are still spot welded on, it is almost certain it is an original frame. Those brackets are usually not included with a new frame, and even a good original would have them removed to make it easier for the chromer guy to buff a clean surface. Sounds like you may have a standard, painted frame, but I'll go with the same theory, if those spot welds are there its an original

Re: 1934 Tudor Windshield Frame
Back in the early 70's when I started building 32 Fords there were no repro windshields so we had to use what we had. I've fixed several that are still going today. I always paint my WS frames. I would think with what you describe if you got all the rust out you could do the repairs with J B weld?
