Default 36 Ford Rear Window Drain Removal

Anyone out there ever removed the drain channel from a 36 Ford coupe? I'm not quite sure how to proceed after removing the 4 screws in the trunk area. I figured that removing these screws plus the single screw/fender washer on the inside below the window would allow the drain channel to "slip down" off the window track.

However, it appears that it may be spot welded in place to the window channel. Does anyone have experience in removing this drain?

I was planning on doing the same thing to my 35 coupe. I thought it would be like the 34,ie, held in by screws, but your right. It is spot welded on each side in 3 different locations. The only way to remove is drill out the welds which would be a tough job due to the limitded space. I wanted to remove mine so I could paint it but decided to paint in place.

Thanks for the info oldford, that's enough to discourage me as well. I'll just have it media blasted, then painted and then I think I'll spray the water trough with some undercoating material.
