Default Holley 1904 carb rebuild

Looking for a person or a vendor that can check and rebuild two glass bowl Holley 1904s that are on the 215 engine in my 52 Panel. I'm looking for a person that's very knowledgable about these tempermental carbs.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

As Ken mentioned, I highly recommend Charlie in NY; he rebuilt mine almost 2 years ago for my 55 F-100's 223 six and to date it has been flawless. I can tell you by my experience with the 1904s that they are very sensitive to the slightest spec of dirt or debris so be sure that you are running with a clean tank, fuel lines, and a fuel filter for good measure. Regards, Steve.

Ditto on what Steve said about dirt. One thing you need to make sure of is the flatness of all the mating surfaces. If there is any mis match there you will have internal leaks and bowl leaks. Check out the HAMB and ihonlynorth forums.
I have 2 of those beasts on a 215". It took me about 6 months of tinkering to get it to run right.

Thanks Steve, Thats in the 53 Courier I took to Billetproof for the March bash.

Back on rebuilding these: This carb is not that difficult as compared to a 94. It is just making sure everything is clean and straight. Particular attention needs to be paid the ensuring the mating faces are flat. The gaskets don't always compensate for the warped parts. I've had to reshape the carb body and the metal bowl on mine to get a good seal. The best result in getting them to run good was sanding flat the surface of the main well/economizer body. It had been over tightened through the years. It took me a while to figure out where the root of the problem was. Now it's running very well. Well enough to go to Florida from New Hampsire and back last March. Now I'm chasing an ignition upgrade as the Load-o-matic distributer does not play nicely with 2 carbs.
