Attached is a picture of a '32 shock. Note the ring. The pen cap is pointing to the ring.

A Model A shock is 1/4 " less in height, is manually adjustable, and does not have the cavities on the back like the '32 shock shown in #22 above.

Chapter 23 of the Model A Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards has excellent photographs of 1931 and prior shocks.

Like David stated, they are a 1938 and later service replacement shock. In that it is the later 38 and newer design shock, with the early style shaft that will accept 28-32 clamp on arms. These would have been auto parts store replacement shocks. I have used a few sets on driver quality 32 Fords.
