Good book for T info
A Model A friend of mine just acquired a Model T and needs a couple of books with information. Similar to the Model A red book and the judging standards. Thanks in advance.

A reprint of the original Service Manual (The Model T Bible), Bruce McCaulley's big Model T book & Service Bulletin Essentials for starters !

Re: Good book for T info
Free parts catalogs from Chaffins, Langs and Snyders. Then add to that, a reprint of the original Ford parts book that covers the year of car he bought.
The Ford Service Manual would be the closest thing to the "red book" and should be the first book bought if he is going to work on his T. The Judging book put out the Model T Ford International club would be the closest to the Model A Restoration and Judging Standards. It might be sold by the above listed parts supplier, don't know have not checked. I would then suggest signing up on The Model T Ford Club of America site along with some of the Facebook pages. While membership in the club is encouraged, it is not required. https://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/index.p...fab368716a3102 https://www.facebook.com/groups/Fordmodelt/

Re: Good book for T info
Two of my favorites:
For understanding the use and operation "The FordOwner" by Murray Fahnstock For repairs and maintenance "Tinkerin' Tips" by Ted Aschman An excellent source of factory facts as well as social experience is "Henry's WONDERFUL Model T" by Floyd Clymer. All of these give a view of the way things were as well as mechanical and material facts. The "Tinkering Tips" though is more toward practical repair solutions of a century old machine.

"Tinkerin Tips" a good read and another good take on how to do things.
Ted Aschman was a great help to the hobby. |

Does the Ford Service manual have the glass dimensions in it?
I have it on order but hasn't made it yet. |

Looked at above site but could not find it. You would need booklet T11 for glass sizes. The dealers do have them. Nothing in the Ford Service. The Model T Ford Service Bulletin Essentials has them but would only be up to Dec 1922 cars.

Re: Good book for T info
I would suggest the new large print edition of the service manual. It has much clearer pictures. When an arrow points to a bolt you can actually see which bolt they mean. I first bought the small one and then the large when I found out about it.. well worth it.

Re: Good book for T info
Dykes auto encyclopedia in the model t era has a lot of information and insight into working on early cars, and it has all the basic how to work on most anything,
