The first time I went to Mike's (it's not very far away for me) it was on a Saturday just minutes before closing. Steve helped me with a mechanical problem, taking all the time in the world to explain how to install the parts I had purchased.

About a month later I appeared again for more parts and some further advice. Once again, Steve gave me his undivided attention. When he presented me with the bill I realized that he had found my name in the computer without asking. I told him I was gratified that he had remembered my name after only one encounter. He then proceeded to recount all my recent Model A concerns -- he had been following my posts on the Ford Barn.

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

I just picked up my first Model A project and ran across this old post while looking around. I have not thought about Steve in years, but do miss him. I grew up traveling the country in with my family in my dad's model A and Steve was always a staple. When I got to be a teenager, my dad started including me on his annual Model A trip to the Daytona 500, which Steve was always a part of. I have fond memories of dragging our chairs out of the hotel rooms at night to the sidewalk and sitting around telling stories and Steve was always good for a laugh. He was one of the good ones.

My condolences to the friends and family. Steve was always a pleasure to work with whenever I had a question regarding a part. Rest in peace Steve, thank you for the contribution to the hobbies and lives of all.

Maybe so, but sometimes it does not hurt to be reminded of someone that has passed.
