Wish I had a pic of my hometown Ford Dealer. It was totally built from large round river rocks, the building is still there. In the mid '40's, Chief had a Conoco gas station right across the street from it. It was a sweet setup when he needed parts! And we also had a really GREAT old time hardware store next door and a HAMBURGER JOINT NEXT TO THAT! Life was GOOD! Bill W.

Life did seem better back in the 50's 60's up to 2000. The first part of the 80's was not not too good. I was thinking about it today. What happened? Nam was a bad deal but the rest seemed much better than today.

We had nine gas stations and now we just have two convenient stores
We had four hardware stores and now we have none
We had five clothing stores and now the only place to buy clothing is an ALCO store
We had four drug stores and now we have none
We had about 10 restaurants and now we four
we had three jewelery stores and now we have none
we still have one pizza place
we had four good size grocery stores plus every neighbor hood had a little store now we have one
We have two more banks
We stayed even with mechanic shops
We had two tow trucks and now we have none
we use to know everybody and now you do not see anybody you know at the grocery store
The list goes on and on

Thanks for posting the picture

Here's a pic of the Vollmer Ford Agency in Colorado Springs taken from "American Garage and Auto Dealer" magazine, Feb 1919. The dealer still exists, and is now named Phil Long Ford.

St. Boni Auto in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota has been in business in the same building since the Model T days.
Our Model A club took a trip to see the place a few years ago and lined up out front to take this picture.
