Default 40 Bumper Iron Grommets

After numerous trips to the car wash this summer I have noticed the bumper iron grommets front and rear on my 40 standard coupe have turned grey and are showing some small cracks. They probably had some sort of dressing on them that has washed off. I assume they're originals? Is that a 2 man job or can I do it by myself? What's the best way to proceed? Who makes the best grommets that fit and last? Thanks.

Drake and Carpenter are good. Well, at least they used to be. Do NOT accept Vintique.I'd ask the salesperson what they are shipping.
One guy job easy...
Remove the bumper bar and then the arms. Push the respective grommet in place but a bit out from the fender.
Install the arms but do not tighten to frame yet, just "close".
Install bumper bar but again, don't tighten down all the way.
Now tighten up the arms at the frame and push the grommet to the fender.
Finally, tighten the bumper arm down.

Rustoleum has a wipe New product to restore plastic and rubber parts. Check their website. Alot easier than taking the car apart.

That may have been what was coating the rubber grommets when I got the car. Have always hand washed it but the car was so bug covered I took it to the local car wash. High pressure/hot water and who knows what kind of soap. Got all the bugs off but my bumper grommets may have been a causality?

Just replace them per Kube instructions and liquid soap is your friend.
