can someone please tell me how to get the glove box lock off of my '39?

Is the glove box door open or locked shut?

On my 39 (Mercury) there is a small circlip in a groove that holds the lock tumbler in the glove box door.

thanks, after a few hours i finally figured it out.... key has to be inserted in lock and then push a very hidden release button to pull the back of the lock out.. Yea!!! i can have my dash and glovebox door powdercoated tomorrow...
