Default brake clips

I have 47 car which I replacing the front brakes shoes. Wondering if there is a proper method of putting those clips in that hold the shoes up against the backing plate ? I got one on three more to go. There must be a easier way.

Squeeze the part than fits the backing plate in a vise. These clips are very important, as they hold the shoes in place so the drum can be removed easily. We sometimes find that they were omitted, making drum removal very difficult as the shoes tilt and lock the drum in place.

I finally got them in today. I kinda found how to put them in as it was trial and error. A pair of vise grips and a screwdriver. All is good, thanks for the reply, Moe

I've always installed them prior to putting the shoes on, then install the shoe and slide it into the clip.

I had tried that but the shoes would hit the edge of the drum before I could slid it into the clip. I sometimes don't do things the easy way !! But with vise grips and a screwdriver I manged to install all four of them. Thanks for reply, Moe
