brake drums
I have a 47 car and wanted to know how many years of newer front drums that would fit?

Re: brake drums
I have a 47 and the drums hubs are what you have to watch when replacing, as the hub rides on the outside not inside.

Re: brake drums
If you want new drums go to boling brothers/ Mt products, they make great new brake drums for your car.

Re: brake drums
The attached photos are rear hub/drum assemblies. Pre war is on the left and post war on the right. Note the hub is inside pre war and outside post war. Either hub/drum assembly will fit '40-'48. Catch is you cannot use pre war hubs with post war brake drums and conversely. Also some post war hub/drum assemblies had weights welded on the drum that interfere with wire wheels. They need to be removed or relocated.

Re: brake drums
I am using 1940 Boling Brothers drums and hubs on '42-'48 backing plates.

I have the brake drums -- BRAND NEW -- and the brake shoes in ++ Asbestos ++...
Hope you have a U.S.A. address.... With the weight, the shipping into Canada would be astronomical..... Always best to simply call me -- Craig -- 516 - 485 - 1935.... New York.... |
