36 ford wirering harness
I am rewiring a 36 roadster and the owner supplied me with a new Mac's harness
I ran the harness to the back of the car along the left frame rail, the leads for the brake light switch are at least 6 inches short of reaching it, did I route it incorrectly? Also I want to replace the wires in the headlights does anyone make an original reproduction wiring for them? Everything I have found changes them to modern lights and I want this original. Thank you in advance. Todd |

Re: 36 ford wirering harness
What you have is the main harness. You also need the individual connecting harnesses.
Here's one good source for wire harnesses, not the only one: Rhode Island Wiring Service Inc. www.riwire.com

Re: 36 ford wirering harness
What ford38v8 said. There are actually several pieces to the harness going to the taillights. I'm guessing you have 14405, that connects to 14424 which connects to 13410 (two of them, one right and one left). The diagrams and Green Book are always helpful! The 36 v8 diagram is p-134 on pg.569. The rear lamp harness is 81A 14405 on pg.578, the crossover harness is B 14424 on pg.579 and the tail lamp light harnesses are O1C 13410 on pg.545. The tail lamp harness is listed as 25 inch long in the book.
NOTE: These numbers (years) are all over the place because these are the dealer replacement numbers and different parts of the harness were used over several model years, most likely with upgrades on some of them, so they end up with the later year part number. Re: 36 ford wirering harness
I have the cross over in the back and I will give them a try for the headlight wires.
At this point I need some input as to the routing was it down the left rail or do they go into the cross brace and back out to the left corner? Last edited by todd3131; 05-19-2015 at 03:43 PM. |

The taillight wiring harness follows the X member. For 1936, the wiring goes under the center box (picture on page 153 of the '35-'36 book).
