Default '37 - '40 Rumble Seat ?

Hey guys ! I was watching an old flick from 1938 tonight on TCM . In it , the lead female character drove a '37 convert. w/a rumble seat . I knew they were available up to '40 , but I had never seen one . The side mount spare on the passenger side fender really looked odd to me !
Not a big fan of rumble seats , but I got to believe this was a very rare option ? - F F

Edit below to my original post.

Hi Bernie, I didn't see the movie you are taking about, but
I think TonyM has and gave you the answer you seek...

Yes, the 1937 Cabriolet piloted by Bonita Granville. I have posted about that car here before.

1937 Cabriolet and Roadster both came with rumble seat as standard equipment.

Bonita Granville was only 15 years old when she was beating up on this 1937 Ford.

Here are some screen shots of that car. This car, and other Fords, can be seen on the FordBarn thread "V-8 Fords on Film." https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...=19886&page=32
(Page 32 Post # 627)

1937 Fords did not come with factory sidemounts. Obviously this is a modification.

1937 Cabriolet and 1937 Roadster came with rumble seat as standard equipment.

Note the Pines trim and non Ford radio.

I have always wondered about this 37. There is something off about the grill also, almost like it has extra chrome bars. It also has a aftermarket radio. Since it would be one year old, movie was made in 38, there are a lot of "upgrades" added in a short time.

The V8 emblem on the grille is backwards and the hood ornament/latch handle looks a little different as well. I suspect that the passenger side door had a very restricted opening given the proximity of the spare tire to the front edge of the door.

In response to the original question, 1939 was the last model year for Ford rumble seats.

Thanks Tony ! So , if the '37's did not come w/sidemounts , where did Henry put the spare ? On the back like on a '36 - F F

This is an aftermarket trim accessory. Pines trim accessory.

The spare on 1937 cabriolet and roadster is stored behind the seat.

Check out the rear view mirror in the last picture of the 37. It's a big square thing ???

Yes , I noticed that while watching the movie . Actually , it is not square . It is a thin , rectangular shape . This car was a year old , and already there was some " customizing " performed on it ! Interesting .......... - F F
