Default trouble with clock

I have a 47 car, stock everything. The clock at times just starts making a ticking noise and the needle advances ahead for a about 10 seconds then stops.
Then 10 seconds later starts ticking and moves backwards. Any ideas.

Probably needs to be removed and cleaned.

My '47 clock is electric. It had a broken stem (for setting the time) and would stop running after about a minute. If I disconnected and reconnected the electric supply the dual coils inside would rewind the clock but it would not rewind itself. Cleaning and lubricating did not help. Contact points were okay. I had "The Clock Works" (East River WI 715-479-5759) clean and restore the clock and convert it to 12 volt. Works fine now and they provided a one-year warranty.

Maybe it's set for daylight savings time. Sorry couldn't resist.
