Took your guys advice and went with a NCT bed kit. The riser kit fit perfect and so did everything else. Put some vinegar on it and the next day it looked like this. Matches the truck very well.

Opps! Now you won't be able to use it. Gosh that looks great! Cut a piece of OSB to the size of the bed and use that in the bed when you need a "Pickup Truck".

That is one fine looking truck.
Can't beat the monkey face, but I also like the jail bars and barrels.

Those are not stainless strips, bare metal. They will age with the truck. I know it sounds dumb to age something brand new but my truck is all original so it must look like it belongs.

Very creative with the vinegar! It does give it that aged look. Did you seal the wood after the vinegar wash?

I did put one piece of steel wool in it for about an hour. Found the idea on a craft website.

I might have laid some paint on the strips, they might look a bit odd after turning red with rust, plus they may bleed (the rust) into the wood and streak it.

I do understand your intent though, but just my thoughts.

Mike your opinion is valid. I might just do that. Although the rust staining might help it look the part. I guess I will have to think about that. I do admit, I would have aged the strips first but I got so excited about having a bed floor again that I just treated the boards.

That same vinegar will strip the rails as well.
I like the effect on the wood. After you strip the oil etc from the rails, you could soak the wood with a 50/50 mix of mineral oil and linseed oil to preserve the wood. Top and bottom. wipe off any excess after it soaks in.
