Default A affordable filter increase in oil pressure

I added the oil filter and noticed about a 3-4 lb increase in oil pressure. Gauge read about 8 -9 on start up and dropped to about 5. This was on idle no road test I was just testing for leaks after the install.
Before installing the filter I would get about 5 lbs drop back to around 2.
This may be normal do to the addition of the filter but no sure so need to ask.

Yes, you may see an increase in oil pressure as the filter is located in the oil flow piping that is downstream from the gauge sensing port on the side of the block. This is a result of a small opposition to oil flow caused by the filtering element in the oil filter. It is also normal for the pressure to drop as the oil heats up and increase as engine speed increases. Your readings are normal.

Thanks, that is what I figured ,had some problems with the initial install but thanks to good help from other barn members got it done. So when I saw the pressure rise wanted to confirm all was well.

In the Models A & B engines, it is the volume of oil flow that is important so a flow restriction is not a good thing. The function of the oil pump is to provide enough oil flow to assure that the reservoirs in the valve chamber, and the troughs in the oil pan tray have a plentiful supply of oil.

Oil flow from the pump first lubricates the center bearing of the camshaft, and simultaneously fills the reservoirs in the valve chamber. Excess oil in the valve chamber overflows onto the camshaft drive gears and into the oil pan tray.
