EZ Steer
Well I just finished installing the New EZ STEER Box in a customers 30 Roadster and took it for a test spin. WOW I am back to one hand steering and going down the road with no play, Feels almost like Power Steering compaired to the original. LOVE It. Iceman

Re: EZ Steer
I install the EZ Steer unit in my 31 S/W -'bout a month ago. Before it took both thands to turn wheels when she was sitting still and was very tight when rolling, at any speed. After installing EZ Steer I can turn steering wheel - while sitting still with one hand- and while rolling it is like power steering. Drove all over town that first day and some corners were done with one finger. BTW she sits on 16" wheels with Tiger Paw radials.
You bet, I am one happy camper. Ken |

Re: EZ Steer
We have one installed in the Model A Times roadster for evaluation. We will be writing it up for the Fall 2010 issue to let you know how it works.

BTW - One of the quickest ways to stress and prematurely wear out a steering system, manual or powered, is to work the steering while standing still. 'Grinds away on the tires nicely too! Earle |

Re: EZ Steer
Hey Ice man, Is the EZ steer something the average guy can do, about how many hours would it take to complete, and total cost of part(s). It sounds great for us guys with the thorn rotater cuffs and and other shoulder troubles.

Re: EZ Steer
$800. I usually don't agree much with the Model A purists/preservationists but I do on this point: A properly restored Model A steering box steers just as easily as the EZ steer.
I have an "EZ" steer style box(Ford F-1) on my RPU. It's great. I bought it for $275 on fleabay. I don't use a shortened pittman arm tho. But I also have a properly restored 30/31 box and 28/29 box and they steer just as easy if a shortened pittman is used with them. In fact I restored a 29 steering box and delayed installing it. When I finally put it in I got mixed up and thought it was the EZ steer! The EZ steer is really better than a home built Ford F-1 as the steering shaft hasn't been welded as it is manufactured instead of grafting/welding a Ford F-1 box/shaft on a Model A upper shaft.
