never done it, but i'm sure folks are using a bell off the front of a truck 4spd. there was even a guy making the adaptor for the torque tube i believe. you'll have to ask mr google, he knows every thing

Model Engineering makes an adapter fora Ford 4 speed top loader trans which I believe is the same config as the 3 + 1 O/D trans you have. I have one for the 4 speed and its high quality.

I used the bell off the front of a flathead Ford 4 speed and made a simple flat aluminum plate to that same RTS transmission. It works just fine with the overdrive and the synchromesh first gear. Did this to at least a half dozen flathead engines.
Don't know how to put the pictures on this site, but can send them to an email address.

Ford 3+1 overdrive [ 4 speed ] conversion to retain closed drive.
I will have this conversion kit on display at the Pate swap in April together with all the other products I manufacture.

Yes, I did this to an 8BA in my 47 with a spicer 44A rear,. really works like a dream. I used a stock stamped steel bell housing and welded on some tabes after boting out the regester to the same size as the tran,. another way to do this id with a Hogs head adapter for the 59. I realize most prople dont have the machinery to do this, but if you know sombody with a mill, it's pretty easy.

Here are the photos Jay was wanting posted. They are of two different transmission bolt patterns, but the concept is the same for both. This is the approach I use for T5 adapters using a "Hogshead" for the bellhousing part.

www.jalopyjournal.net www.jalopyjournal.net" This is what I did.www.jalopyjournal.net I use the exact same transmission that you have in your picture.www.jalopyjournal.net It's simple.www.jalopyjournal.net www.jalopyjournal.netThere is nothing to it."
Jay

One of the first steps is to determine the input shaft length which determines the thickness of the adapter plate.

Note: Sorry it took so long!!! My wife had surgery yesterday and spent most of my time at the hospital. Running a little behind.
