You're gonna have a blast, Mike. Loads of info and cheerleading for you here.

Re: pics of my 49 f1
I spent 7 years restoring one. I'd love to see more pictures with detail--under hood, bed, etc. Thanks! That is a real find. post as many shots as you can. I assume it is a V8?

Re: pics of my 49 f1
Very nice looking truck, Mike. Wish mine was half as good when I found it. Mine is an early '50 with a 226 flat six. Glad to see another bonus built in the barn.

Re: pics of my 49 f1
Wow! That's a nice truck. It's amazing when you don't have road salt in the picture and someone who took care of it all these years. What a clean truck.

Re: pics of my 49 f1
Pretty amazing to have an original in that condition. Seems criminal to do anything other than ensure that the mechanicals are in solid shape...

Re: pics of my 49 f1
As you can see in my Avatar I also enjoy an F1. When I acquired it I made the decision not to get to involved in the exterior because I enjoy more to use it than to garage queen it. I drive it most every day and every time I drive it people love to come over and look/talk. My kids are even enjoying the attention. I'd hate to have to tell my three kids whom are all under 10 years old not to touch because of a scratch.
It's completely reliable and mechanically sound and it looks like it hasn't been washed in 25+ years. Every day I don't wash it, it gets better looking to me. The last owner said he had it in a basement garage and was last registered in the early 80's. The question I most get is " is it original" I make them feel go and say YES but what do I really know about the truck and its previous owners? NOTHING. Doesn't matter what the last seller told me before I bought it. The registration sticker in the window was dated to the eighties though. You'll have to decide how to most enjoy/use your new truck. I think your truck looks great as it is. You're original once and that's free, after that you're ordinary no matter how much money you put into it.

Re: pics of my 49 f1
Have had an F1 in my life since 1958. The one I have now have had for 30 years. Found it sitting on the ground in a farmer's field. He was feeding cattle in the bed and storing grain sacks in the cab. Completely restored it but it is a truck, not a garage queen. Drive it, use it and enjoy it.
