Default front oil slinger

Help;
I got my engine(1947 59 A-B ) back from the machine shop (1,000 miles away) & they didn't have the front oil slinger so they didn't install one. The crank & rods are all connected so I have to install the oil slinger somehow. How much do I have to disconnect? If I remove the main caps will I be able to lift the crank & rods enough to install the slinger?

Front cover and oilpan should do it...no need to take the caps off.

flatheadmurre, here is a picture, I think the oil slinger goes in front of the gear.

Flatheadmurre has it - you'll need to pull the timing gear cover to install the slinger. Also, I can't quite tell what that front seal is - sure looks weird from here. I'd replace the seal at the same time - with either the stock rope seals or the one-piece rubber ones. If using the rubber one, then the seal will go on the crank BEFORE you put the pan or timing cover on - then put a bead of silicone sealer in the trough of both the pan and the timing cover - this will help seal the exterior perimeter of the rubber seal as it relates to the grooves in the pan and cover.
