Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
I know that you can't like just one and I know picking, even 3 will be hard! But, let's try it. Because some years are very hard to tell apart, it will be ok to group them. I'm grouping two of my picks.
1. '33/'34 Ford, I have a real hard time telling them apart. I like them because they are less "boxy" than the '32's. 2. '35/'36 Ford truck (Mod 50/51). I can tell them apart, because I own one. But a lot of people can't. I honed my driving skills in a '36, in 1957. 3. '39 Ford. I think they are just beautiful and my dad bought one new. It's the first car that I remember. This is my dads '39 Deluxe and me, on the left, with my Granfather at 6years old. The only picture I have of it.

33, 34, 39, 40 and 37 trucks. I love that 37 pickup radiator shell. Many of them used on old hot rods.

It's easier to pick the bottom three: '38, '41-50, and '52 Fords (yes, that's lots more than three).

Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
38 standard coupe are pretty nice David. Plus whom doesn't like a 49-50 business coupe?
For argument sake. And as far as total vehicle "look" rollout. 42-48 gets a bit fat, but maybe why they are fat fender cars. too me there is not an ugly ford before the escort and the k-car. Last edited by Tinker; 10-19-2019 at 10:20 PM. |

Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
Things change. When I was a kid, a '40 Deluxe coupe was the cat's ass; now, I much prefer a '39 Deluxe (or maybe even a '40 Standard).
I have a '51 club coupe. I know that Ford enthusiasts like the "single spinners", but the general public really likes the '51; I think it has to do with the chrome on the windsplits (which I used to hate) and the more complicated grille. It has a real "fifties" vibe that the "hoi-polloi" can connect to. |

That's the same with me. When I was a kid, I loved the '40 Deluxe coupe. Now I much prefer a '39 Deluxe coupe or a '40 Standard coupe. It's all about the grill for me. Sal |

When you are driving down a road and a 34 Ford of any body style is coming toward you, you get to view the most beautiful front end that has ever been designed!!!!!!!!! I suppose we are all a bit kennel blind. I think there is something beautiful in every old Ford.

Man, what a tough question. I'd probably say 32 3 window for one, 40 coupe of course and I have always adored 52 to 54 Ford convs especially the 53 pace cars. There are so many great ones,it is very hard to make a choice !

Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
It's easier to say what I don't like. Well, like less...there's not many cars I really don't like.
For passenger cars (different preferences for trucks), it's 35, 38 Deluxe/39 standard, and post-48. The 35 and 38/39 front ends just aren't that appealing to me. I'm not so much into shoeboxes because I'm old enough to remember when they were still daily drivers. Back then, the prewar and 46-48 cars were the ones I thought were cool. I do prefer convertibles and "one-seaters" (cabriolets, roadsters, and coupes) to sedans. I'm also not into Mercs and Lincolns so I don't have strong preferences there. |

I'll go with my cars: 32 5 window. 36 roadster and 39 DeLuxe coupe. If I had to choose one more, it would be a 33 3 window.

Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
My first flathead ford was a 38 tonner pu. Daily drove it for 11 years. It did me well, really well, but never too keen on the horse collar grille. I'm in with whoever wrote about anything from'35. And some people call me the jailbar (42-47)pickup king, but a '35 I would be buried in.

My pick is the '34 roadster. I had one back in the 50's and have one today. Besides, 1934 was the year I was born and today is my 85th birthday. The car has aged a lot better than I have.

Let the market decide.....I would say the '32 followed by the '33 & '34. These are the most reproduced designs.

Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
I like the "What's your favorite ice cream?" analogy posted above. Everybody's taste is different, and naturally we tend to buy our personal favorites.
A few years ago I was talking to a guy at a local car show who had just acquired a rough '37 tudor slant-back. I told him he has a lot of work ahead but I think he will be doing it on the right car, that body style is one of my favorites. Then last year I was going to the Mecum auction in Chicago, not to buy or sell, just to enjoy a day out as a spectator with hundreds of old cars to check-out. Mecum's pre-auction flyer arrived in the mail, showing an estate sale with a bunch of streetrods to be sold at no reserve. Most of them had the typical SBC engine, but included in the bunch was a '37 tudor slant-back with a flathead engine. That car is now in my garage! We each tend to go after our personal favorites. |

Any 1934 Ford passenger car. Even the 34 four door sedan is classy. Mind you the 34 Aussie utes open and closed are nice. Edsel Ford and his designers got it right in 33 & 34. Regards, Kevin.

I'd say it is a ford product, certainly more interesting then another "what yrs are best thread". We all have yrs that mean something to each of us on a personal level. But certainly the 32-36 3 window would be near top dog.... outside trucks, phaeton, and zephyrs...... ...... no right answer other then the ford ya own I guess. . Re: Top three Ford Products, '32 - '53
For convenience sake, I added '39 and '38 Standards, with the year before. and grouped '41 - 48 together but, I was surprised that know one picked the '41. The Tri Motor had more votes? I was also surprised that only two Merc's made it ('50 & '53) and the lack of trucks.
The clear winner was '39/'40 (about even), with '33/'34 second and '32's third. These are the results, thus far: Fords 32 - 10 33/34 - 16 35 - 4 36 - 4 37 - 5 38 - 5 39/40 - 22 41-48 - 4 49-51 - 8 52/53 - 1 Merc - 2 Linc - 3 Trucks 32/33 - 0 35/36 - 2 37 - 2 38/39 - 0 40/41 - 1 45-47 - 1 48-53 - 1 Ford Tri Motor - 1 If you'll keep posting, I'll up date the results.

I'll go for '33 Coupe, '37 Slantback and '32 Cabriolet. I have two of these, who knows, maybe some day I'll have the '32 as well. I have to admit though, there aren't many in all those years that I don't like.
