Craigslist ?
Hey guys ! I was on Craigslist yesterday , and there is hardly any of the old cars on it that there used to be . Someone told me that they charge now for vehicle " for sale " ads . ( I don't blame them for that ) I also heard that e-bay has purchased Craigslist , and that more changes are coming .
So , that being said , does anyone know what is really going on here ? What is your favorite car shopping site ? - F F |

Re: Craigslist ?
Yep,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i guess greed has set in. They started charging five dollars on the 15th for a car or truck for sale. I to typed in what use to be a bunch of old cars and now get 2001-2017 cars. Just wonder how people will try to sell their old cars now. Facebook maybe, but not everyone uses face book.

Re: Craigslist ?
Yep .....I saw the $5.00 charge also . Hard to believe that would stop people from advertising their old vehicle on Craigslist . Personally , I feel that is a bargain if it is for the 45 days the ad runs ! Do a lot of cars get sold on Facebook ? - F F

Re: Craigslist ?
It seems that Instagram is where all the deals are being done these days.
I can't afford the 10,000.00 K.R. Wilson badges and 5500.00 grilles on EBAY. Maybe after my Tesla stock hits 5,000 a share. |

Re: Craigslist ?
I mostly use google & just type in what I am looking for. Now I want get rid of all my cars as I'm getting to old to keep them up. Some day I need to make a list of all the parts & car & post them. Just that I haven't already done that. Maybe tomorrow

Re: Craigslist ?
On the plus side maybe these cars will start showing up at swap meets where you can actually look at them and not make a trip to look at some piece of misrepresented junk.

Re: Craigslist ?
The biggest impact is to the dealers (both "real" dealers and the flippers) who are being weeded out of the "by Owner" section. It also prevents them re-posting the same ad every day to keep it on top. Also discourages posting in every town across the country. It seems to be working.

Re: Craigslist ?
Craigslist has no filters for scammers that have put false ads on in the past. It's the fact that you will be traceable via the five dollar fee. I recently went to put something in rants and raves and they wanted my phone number, to send a link to before I could post. Since I was not comfortable with that, I did not post Selling on craigslist is a pain because of the idiots that have nothing better to do then screw with the seller. That's not going to change.

Re: Craigslist ?
Facebook marketplace is much better. Since it's linked to an account you can actually see what the person looks like and where they live. I never had a problem with craigslist to be honest with you and bought a lot of good stuff off of there. I don't have Instagram, but if that's the way the classified ads are going I'll get an account.

Re: Craigslist ?
Maybe it is the start, but come on, $5 for a 30 day car ad! Pretty cheap in the long run. There are search engines that you can use to see cars you are looking for all across the US etc. So it's not like you have to look just local.
While dealers were paying for ads, I think, what they need to hit hard are the ones that place, for example, 10 ads of the same car. It's not like if I was looking for brand X their car wouldn't show up in a search.
