Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
Looking at the Gennie in the Vintique or the Deuce in the US Wheel. 15x7 for the rear of a 32. I dislike the 10 bolt holes but other than that, what is your experience. I will be getting them in bare condition.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
Look at Vintiques 'O.E.' wheels . No 10 bolt holes.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
I think the O.E. wheels have the bumps on the outside using 10 1/2 inch caps. I want the bumps on the inside so I can use 1940 to 1948 caps. I have quite a few of the later ford wheels with outside bump.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
Check Wheel Smith. Better quality and better powder paint. Great service at least to me.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
FYI
I purchased a pair of 16x8 wheels from Honest Charlie and specified primed wheels. When they arrived they were powder coated black. They also would not accept the OE hubcaps I purchased. It seems Vintique wheels only take a special hubcap so I had to have the wheels sandblasted and but two Vintique compatible hub caps to make everything work.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
I just ordered a set of chrome reverse wheels for my '40 from www.truespoke.net. 5 on 5.5 and only five holes in pretty much whatever offset you want. I haven't received them yet, so I can't comment on the quality.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
In the past I purchase 2 sets (8 wheels) from Wheel Vintique. The material was much thicker than OEM wheels. This made each wheel weigh much more. It seems the dies they stamped the wheels with where made to the OEM thickness. The area around the lugnut holes were sheered thru. Like a louver. I didn't use the wheels. They are in the boxes stored in the back garage. I felt them to be unsafe. In their defense; since Coker Tire has bought them out, maybe they have addressed this issue.????
I have found any/all of the aftermarket steel wheels need attention to the nubs that the hub cap snaps into. Maybe a little grease for the first time the hub cap is installed. fun hobby....enjoy |

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
I bought Wheel Vintiques for my 49 Coupe. No problems with the wheels and the 49 caps fit perfectly.

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
After a bit more research, I ordered some vintage wheels by Wheel Smith. they do have five hole wheels in 5 on 5 1/2. I decided to go with 15x6 with the same backspace (3 3/4)as stock 15x5's
All of the wheel companies have some bad reviews that mostly stem from customers not knowing how to measure back space. Tim |

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
I used wheel vintiques Gennie Series 14 on my 48 F-1. Inside bumps to run the stock '48 caps. They're a decent wheel for the price. I went through summit racing (free shipping).

Re: Wheel Vintique or US Wheel
I am not sure I will be running hub caps. The thought of the 10 hole wheels turned me off to Vintiques and US Wheel. If I knew I was going to be running caps I would have gone for one of the cheaper wheels.
If I had bought from Summit I would have saved shipping and sales tax. Tim |
