Default which coil

I've searched the forum and can't find the NAPA part number for a 6 volt coil with no built-in resistor for my 59-AB motor. The one I bought from Car Quest two years ago failed after less that 10,000 miles. I have an old style coil for a spare, just in case I break down on the road, but I want a new one that I can depend on. If I can find an old style one, the square body type, that the case isn't cracked on then I will send it off to be rebuilt and use it. But until then I need a new coil as I'm afraid the old one may quit on me.

The most dependable coil is the original Ford coil rebuilt by
Skip Haney in Florida. Cost $83.00 including shipping.

Bosch makes (made?) a 6V blue coil- VW's. I have a high opinion of their products. Still.

6 volt Bosch Blue are now silver, and they have a 2 ohm resistor built in that works for points or Pertronix applications.

That is the ultimate plan but, I need a good case first. All three of the originals that I have are cracked.

I stopped at NAPA the other day and asked for a 6 volt coil with no built in resistor. The counter guy was no real help, he told me I needed the part number for him to locate the right coil. His attempt to look up the right coil was disappointing to say the least. People like him are the reason I started buying from CarQuest several years ago. Their service was great and I got a discount on my parts and other than their lousy condensers and the coil that just failed I've been quite happy. Now they've sold out and I'm a stranger in their business.
