Default A Christmas Story

Although I'm about a week too late posting this, how many of you have a DVD version of Jean Shephard's classic movie A Christmas Story? We watch it several times each year around Christmas and I'm always pausing or backing up a bit to get a look at the cars in the street or the wonderful Model A bodies. When I was a kid there always seemed to be an old car out in the woods where we played.

Love that movie. It plays on a loop for us when TBS runs it each Christmas Eve!

When I was a kid around '57 or so in New Orleans, my dad had a friend who parked his running & driving Model A coupe up by the corner with a sheet of paper in the windshield marked $25! And it sat there for a while, too. Me and a bud bought a similar Model A coupe about 1963 with a $45 sign on it parked in a grocery store parking lot. DD

My favorite line from the movie was something like, "Some mean were Baptists, some men were Masons, but my father was an Oldsmobile man."

My father worked with profanity the way artists work with oils and clay.
