Default Optima Battery - Sam's Club heads up

Sam's is discontinuing the sales of Optima batteries ... at least in my area.

In stock batteries are on clearance. I bought yellow top 12V 35's for $99 each.

It's my understanding that a lot of the major retailers are not handling Optima batteries anymore since they are now made in Mexico and not of the same quality!

We get Optimas from our Interstate Battery route man. Price is right, and they warrant them, as well. I have been using Optimas for years and have yet to find a bad one. The usual way they can be damaged is to quick charge them. It must be slow and gradual. Go to their web site for details.

Not being familiar with BatteryMart, I just went to their web site. BUT found no trace of Optima batteries.

But I see Amazon still has 6V redtops at $112.

I would normally be leary of buying on internet where warranty is lacking, but Optima seems to have fixed their previous problem by increasing height at the top for better inter-cellular connections plus better packaging foam for shipping. A drop on the head during shipment would cause a dramatic shortening of life, a modality which I believe gave them a bad rep.

Incidentally while I'm spouting, Optima battery are particularly susceptible to excessive heat ... this coming from an application where radiator heat and/or manifold heat, was directed at the battery, greatly shortening life.
