Default Pop out grounds the points feed when off?

Can some one confirm that when "Off" the pop out switch not only disconnects the feed
from the coil but also grounds the wire going to the contacts. If so was this clever little feature on all pop out switches both original and repros?

You are correct, see pages 213 and 214 of the Service Bulletins for information and pictures of the switch.

True for originals. Inside the armor cable is another "spring" wrapped around the electrical wire its entire length. This "spring" acts like a anti-theft-device by grounding the points when the ignition is off. Yes, a very clever idea by Ford.
I do not know if the repro pop-outs have that function.
