1928 Oil Pan Clean-Out Plate Spring

I have a knocking noise in the immediate area of the 1928 Oil Pan clean-out plate and I suspect it is a weakened or broken oil pump retainer spring.

Question: If it is an unserviceable oil pump retainer spring, how do I fix the issue since the 1928 spring is fastened to the clean-out plate?
