I am debating whether to eliminate the second tire from the front fenders on my 1930 tudor sedan. The fenders have a tire on each side. The fender wells are rusted through in several spots and it is $42.00 ea. plus shipping for a new fender wells. I could weld a plate in one and eliminate one.

Unless you are doing the patch the cost would be VERY costly. Plus they/you will have to get the right slope and curve. It might be easier to just get a regular fender.

So for a hundred dollars or less you have new fender wells, with a lot less metal work. Paint cost will be about the same either way. To weld in a plate without ending up with ripples and waves will be a lot of work (or expense)!

I would be welding the metal in my self and doing the the body work, and paint A New fender are over $650.00 and will need work to make it fit.

By eliminating one spare tire I would also eliminate a rim, tire, mounting hardware and would be able to open the door all the way without hitting the tire.

I must say, I like my spare on the back. Never had a side-mount car, but they don't turn me off either. I guess it's a matter of preference.

If you are not going to show the car, fiberglass the inside of the well and re-finish the outer area. One spare is enough but that is up to you.

I bet you would find someone eager to trade a regular fender for yours. Finding someone local is a different story.

I would remove the driver side fender well spare,It is really a chore to get out of my 29ccpu with the tire restricting the door opening,not a great idea Henry!
