Google fly bait. I hear it works on racoons when mixed with coke. They don't hardly get a taste and are done.

Bill I like Jeff's suggestion about the ammonia. Seems reasonable. I know I don't like it when I get a whiff of that stuff.

Couple of other ideas.

If you have access to a 55 gallon barrel clean up the bird feed off the ground that they are feeding on and put it and perhaps some cat food or such in the bottom of the barrel. Prop a 2x4 up to the top of the barrel like a ramp. I think you will find they will drop into the barrel to feed and not be able to get out. You may need to extend a short piece about a foot long down into the barrel to encourage them. They most likely won't go in if they have easy food on the ground though.

If your shed is detached from the house fire up the A or another gas engine and run a hose from the exhaust pipe into/under the shed and let er run for a good long time.

I had a squirrel problem in the garage attic, screwed a rat trap to a 2x2 foot section of plywood, solved the tipped over sprung trap problem

Get one rat to bite the missus.

She will then get the hint to not feed the birds.

My uncle's farm house burned to the ground when a squirrel chewed the wiring in the attic.

Ask the miss to stop feeding the birds for awhile. Then hopefully they will look for food somewhere else. That has worked for me with mice

This is what you need. It isn't cheap, but it's maintenance free since coons and possums will take the rats away to dine on them. It was designed for Australia / New Zealand to kill rats in the wild where they destroy the natural environment.

Desert Museum in Tucson had a similar problem with feeding birds, but the various desert rats ate all the food. They mixed in the hottest pepper seeds like habeniors with the bird food, rats could not eat it, but did not bother the birds.

Yep, when I lived on a farm the cats were always killing rats in the stored corn.

We also had one cat that would only eat the head, and another cat that would eat everything but the head.

"MOST" Terriers bred in the U.K, during the BEUBONIC PLAGUE, are NATURAL BORN Rodent Killers & DON'T have to be trained how to do it!
A HUGE grain storage facility, in Alexandria, Egypt use a "POSSE" of Rat Terriers & Jack Russels, to control RATS/MICE. They're trained to put them in a pile, by their "Sheriff", their Handler.
In New England, there's "DIGGER DOGS" that rid the fields of WOODCHUCKS/GROUNDHOGS/ETC, that destroy the Farmers' Fields!
