Default Single Center Snap Ring Wrist Pin ??

Found something I hadn't seen before looking for some good rods in my stash pile. The piston ends of some (early 2-inch journal) rods, I found, use a single center snap ring between the bushings in the piston end of the rod with a matching groove in the center of the wrist pin. Was this Ford usage or a re-builder's mod? Is there any way to remove the snap ring with out removing the bushing?

No, you have to remove both sides of the bushing and dig out the snap ring, install the one piece bushings. I assume you using pistons with the out side snap rings. Walt

Thanks Walt for the info, I bet you have seen it all. Maybe this was an early 1932 design? The exiting bushings seem good. Guess I can use these rods with new pistons and just press in the new wrist pins without the center groove and use the two outer snap rings in the pistons.
