Steam Jenny
I made a post on the V-8 forum and will repeat it here for what it's worth. I have an older L&A steam Jenny that I have been using on my greasier projects. The heat of the steam really cleans the grime and grease from engines, transmission, front end etc. On this Model A project, I shot the wheel backings, rear end front end and when the interior and floorboards were removed, I was able to hit the transmission and bell housing from the inside of the car.
Another thing to store and maintain, but when it is needed, worth the cost. Makes working on the project much more pleasant. |

Re: Steam Jenny
I agree, I don't have a jenny but I have a hot water hookup to my pressure washer, between the soap and hot water it really removes the grease and grime! Don't know how I lived without it for so many years.

Re: Steam Jenny
Like any other extra thing, it becomes a necessity once you become accustomed to having it. Like a bead blasting cabinet and air compressor. Once I got a pickup truck, I don't think I could live without one. My friends don't have that problem. They borrow mine.

Re: Steam Jenny
I used one in the early 70's to clean my car engine. It does a great job. Just be sure ALL the water is out before winter comes. I've seen a couple sell real cheap because they froze over the winter. The same goes for high pressure washers.
I don't have to mention freezing the Model A because we ALL use antifreeze. |
