Cleaning up Territory Markings ??
As we know our Flatheads like to mark there territory !!
Is there a product out there that can be placed on the garage floor that can be left for say at least a month that will contain the oil drops and not leak through to the floor. ( It's like having a puppy / take the puppy or car out clean up the floor ) It would would be nice to have something I could just roll up out of the way if some one stopped by or while using the garage and not have to keep walking through the Speedy Dri What have others done to Garage train our Flatties ??? |

Re: Cleaning up Territory Markings ??
Bill, there is (or there was) a product called the Garage Diaper, you can Google it. I've used two pieces from a large cardboard box (the double layer helps) under the Flatheads but, the best thing I've done is to have an epoxy paint cover the garage floor. I know that is not always a viable solution but, when I built the garage I did it. The epoxy has stood up to everything that a Flathead can deposit on the floor, including brake fluid! Even those unidentifiable fluids left behind by Flatheads, wipe up with very little effort. Every once in a while, I mop the floor with Simple Green cut with water, about a 25 to 75 ratio (25 being the simple Green). If your Flathead is like all of mine, every time you move them, there will be a gift or gifts left on the floor. If I moved one and didn't see any liquid on the floor, It would have to mean that the crankcase, radiator, steering box, transmission, rear end, etc. were out of fluid...

X2 on the large sheets of cardboard. It absorbs pretty well and easy to move about. One thing I use when working on my truck are disposable puppy training pads. The cheap ones work fine and will soak up oils and other liquids. Bag them up when done and your C- board will last much longer.

Galvanized drip pans from Auto Zone probably same as from NAPA. Cost around 12 bucks. Then I just clean them off with paper towels and occasionally Simple Green or Purple Power or another oil cleaner works out good.

I've found that cardboard doesn't allow the oil to bleed through to the concrete. I'm always scavenging appliance boxes left on the side of the street for floor covering.

I use one of those Autozone drip pans and an epoxied floor.
I guess a flathead tends to be like my old harley was, you could tell when it was out of oil when it quit leaving spots in the driveway (or living room carpet). |

Re: Cleaning up Territory Markings ??
To get The G'Raj Mahal ready for the monthly family banquet I can wipe up most from the epoxied floor. Any left I clean up with Ace Blacktop and Concrete cleaner. Just pour some on, brush with broom a little, and spray or mop off.
The G'Raj Mahal Ace Blacktop and Concrete Cleaner I use the galvanized drip pans too.

Re: Cleaning up Territory Markings ??
Bill,
I'm in the NAPA galvanized drip pan camp, too. I've tried the cat litter, cardboard, etc. The larger pan also covers the trans....which also likes to mark its territory. As noted above, it cleans up with a paper towel. I also got a large piece of rubberized storm mat....comes in a roll from Home Depot.....that goes under the drip pan the length of the whole car and catches the differential. When my shocks leak, however, I'm sending them to you!! Regards....Dick. |

Re: Cleaning up Territory Markings ??
Hi Everyone; I use a large metal pan, then put cardboard in it, but really, there isn't much to see when I move the car.

Prof.
I sure like your garage. I do not think my 1250 sq. ft. shop has been clear since the slab cured. Bruce

After the banquet we haul out the tables and chairs, roll up the carpet, and Old Henry moves back in.
