Does anyone have an idea why a 1940 side shift trans wouldn't shift into 3rd? It shifts into reverse and then 1st and up into 2nd but when its stationary or rolling down the road it will not shift into 3rd ???

It could be either be improperly adjusted shifting rods, or damaged gears, or ??

It is an old shifter that I had to soak with WD 40 to loosen up! So maybe the 1st and reverse is not in the right place for the shifter to go down into 3rd?
