Default 39 LED tail lights

Hi Gents

Stock 6 volt positive ground.

I installed leds in rear tail lights. The type that has 72 bulbs and is a complete unit. I also needed to install inline resistors in order to excite the flasher.

Will the wrong size resistor impact brightness. I also notice the flash is much quicker (on -off) when using turn signal.

the resistor is to make a load to equal a regular bulb, there are also flashers made to run led bulbs----with a thermal flasher the load determines flash timing

I just did the Technostalga 40 taillight conversion on my 40 standard and didn't add resistors or change the flasher. The front turn signal bulbs provided enough resistance so the new lights function correctly

Thanks but could it take voltage away from the bulb? My led bulbs are not as bright as I would think LEDs should be.

You can try jumping around the resistor and see. If there is a big difference try an electronic flasher.

Thanks Mr Seery

If I go electronic flasher, since it’s 6 volt pos, anything special I need search other than 6v electronic flasher.

I’m not very good w electric.

I really don't know know the 6v flashers, I will have to do some checking.

Know nothing about these units, but sounds like it would work: https://www.amazon.com/Flasher-Negat...0JEDXT664YED4J

Thanks it but says neg: 6 Volt 3-Prong Electronic LED Turn Signal Flasher Relay, Neg. Ground, ELF33-6

Still ok?

Yep, but they are out there:

Shipping is a killer on this one, but this is an idea of what is available: https://www.ebay.com/itm/6V-ELECTRON...-/182510465226

I can't find any info on the stat 181 working with LEDs. It may, but you would think they would point it out if it did!

It shouldn't. One end of the resistor is connected to the hot wire from the flasher to the LED. The other end of the resistor is goes directly to ground. It's called a parallel connection. Jack E/NJ
