1939-48 transmission rear thrust washer question C91A-7129
I have recently run into what I believe is a C91A-7113 cluster gear. This uses a C91A-7129 rear thrust washer. I have never seen nor had such a thrust washer, or cluster gear prior. My US parts catalogs do not list this Cluster or Thrust Washer, however my Canadian Parts Catalog does (hence the "C" in the prefix).
I presume this was a cluster used on Only Canadian build transmissions? Does anyone know of any C91A-7129 thrust washers available? Seems as though the C91A-7113 Cluster has two inward notches unlike the 51A-7113 that has two outward notches. |

Check with Mac VanPelt at VanPelt Sales (he has a nice web site) or you can PM him on this site. If he can't answer your question, no one can. Some Canadian stuff is just plain different. Spares would likely be found in Canada or the Commonwealth countries if there are still some about.

Yeah, a couple of years back I think Lawrie was looking for one of those thrust washers. Don't know how he got on. Maybe pm him?

May want to check on line at one of the early ford shops down under. I also remember one of the chaps down under looking for one.

Re: 1939-48 transmission rear thrust washer question C91A-7129
Michael, we ran across this issue a few years ago......the Canadian cluster gear in question had two protrusions sticking out the back of the gear. Rather like those on the 49-54 cluster gears, except they were wider prongs. I had a little supply of the 8M-7129B thrust washers modified to fit. You would include the usual 8M-7128 thin washer to fit next to it. You could probably do this yourself to a stock 8M washer with a dremel tool.
However.......you mentioned there being a couple slots in the rear of the gear. Depending on the shape of the slots, it almost sounds like you have a USA made gear for something else. Perhaps a T-86 trans or even a later 50’s three speed. Perhaps you could post a picture of the back face of the gear. Also post a tooth count.

Thanks for your input.. Ill try to post a photo tomorrow when I get to work. I can easily see now how the 8M-7129 could be make to work with a bit of grinding with a dremel as you mentioned. |

Last one I did, I machined the cluster gear to fit the USA washer.
