34 Roadster Tack Rail Strips
I thought I would share with you what I did for the rear convertable top tack strips. Ed Solari invested in the tooling and made the metal tack strips and I experimented with various filler materials to see what would hold the tacks firmly in place. The material that I found that worked best was leather belting. The nice thing about using leather is you can sand it to fit the profile. When I originally took the car apart it had leather belting riveted to the body and it held the tacks very securely. I used 2 cowhide belt strips 3/4 x 50" and cemented them together to get the correct thickness. So I think I have the closest to an original 1934 tack strips as it would have been when it left the factory. The funny thing is that you will never see it once everything is put back together. So I'm sharing it so that everyone can see it, so there!

Re: 34 Roadster Tack Rail Strips
Looks great. How did you get the belting in the tack strips. Slide in? It looks like something I can do to my 48 for the rear of the top.
What type of belting did you use and where can it be obtained.

Re: 34 Roadster Tack Rail Strips
I've used the Drake tack strip material and it works fine. It's sold in different widths and thicknesses.

Re: 34 Roadster Tack Rail Strips
Conveyor belting cut to the correct cross-section works very well as a tack strip.
