1936 pickup cab corner question
Hello... I am looking for a little more help.
Can someone tell me if this is the way the rear cab corners were finished off On the bottom side from the factory? I cannot find any good pictures online. Thanks Last edited by OldGold360; 12-02-2020 at 12:36 PM. |

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
In the interest of the thread, anyone have a source for cab corners? Seems they aren’t available anymore

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
Some folks find if they email it to themselves, the pic is compressed along the way. Might help?

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
I am wondering if the 35-37 pickups had the bottom of the rear cab corners open like in the picture I posted.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
I have a 1936 truck and I had the same question. Doesn’t seem right but that is how mine looks also.
The company that has the dies for that panel went out of business. People have tried to get the dies but no luck. I ended up fabbing the bottom of the one side myself |

OldGold360......I’d be interested in seeing what your doing....my next project is a ‘37 Commercial. I have rusty ‘35 and ‘36 cabs but I’m still going to have to patch the patches....I’ve bought some stuff online but haven’t looked for awhile...Thanks....Mark

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
The back of the cab underneath is open like your picture. The rockers are boxed but just past the door they open up. Those front and rear cab corners and rocker replacements were made by Northern. They made running boards as well. Too bad no one picked it up, they provided a valuable product.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
Yes this is the same on my 35 truck they are open at back. I ended up having to make my own cab corner as no one has them at all. Most items I am finding for the 35-36 trucks is no longer produced.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
My truck is together, but as best I recall, the cab corners look exactly as your picture indicates. Lawson

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
Just saw a thread that Bitchen Products in AZ is now offering lower door skins for COE's. Seems like there is more of a market for cab corners than COE door skins. But then what do I know.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
I agree 100%. I am now looking for cab corners for my pickup. On my corners, pretty much just the bead is salvageable but it would sure make things easier if I could just buy new ones. Someone has the tooling... I wonder why they aren’t making them. I would think there is enough buyers out there for them. Certainly more than COE door skins.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
I would bet that COE door skins are a lot easier to make than cab corners and also require a lot less specialized tooling.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
A little late to this inquiry, but ran into a guy at a swap meet last weekend and we were both in need of rear cap corners. Maybe whoever has the tooling will eventually catch on that there's a decent market out there.

Re: 1936 pickup cab corner question
You are right. I had the tooling when I had Northern Classic Trucks. It was available for sale to many of our dealers or anyone who would want them.
It seemed as if no one was interested to buy the quality tooling at the time. The only offer that I received was from Mac Products. They had told me Quote "when it gets to scrap price let me know." In addition, I still have the35-9 Running board tooling. I am looking for a buyer. You are right about the market. When I had the tooling, I probably sold 1000 pair of front and rear cab corners. The tooling for those ended up in scrap as was most of my tooling. |
