Speedometer cable question
What would be some possible causes for the speedo cable to twist up and break down at the driveshaft connection point?? Have one twisted and broken about and inch up inside the cable.
Thanks!

Re: Speedometer cable question
No lube in the cable housing of a reproduction cable.

Re: Speedometer cable question
Same hppened to me, the cause was a tight speedometer and dry grease inside the speedometer (oval). I removed the oval lid just behind the cable in the housing and removed the dry rease with solvent, soaked for the several days and regrases is. Now it spins fine.

Re: Speedometer cable question
That is a common problem. The main shaft in the speedo is binding from way too many years. Same as all of us. You can try to get it free, but it is tough to do. I found the procedure to take it apart and free it up, but it is not easy. Maybe soaking it will do it. I did not try that.
