Flathead Facts - what heads are these?
A friend saw these heads on the cover of JWL's book, and wants to know who made them. He's built several hot flatheads including 2 blown engines and said having water outlets like these would save him a lot of work. What can you tell us?
BTW John, thanks for the great book. |

Flat32? I think "Mr. Wizard" fits you better! As an old school machinist used to twisting dials and moving levers I see just how little I know. Your ideas and facilities are astounding.
180* headers, electronic FI, manifolds and heads of your own design, the list goes on...., has your stuff seen print anywhere that we might see and read more? |

Flat32 - Wow, what an amazing body of work on display in those photos, thanks for sharing them.
Do you sell heads, or if not would you consider selling raw castings? |

Re: Flathead Facts - what heads are these?
How come I never knew you were in our backyard. One of your pictures reminds me of an engine that my brothers drag race group had. It was a 2 cycle flathead Ford with a reverse cam and the exhaust came out the intake. It was supercharged through ports drilled through the inside of the valve gallery to the cylinder. It could really could put out the RPMs quickly. They raced it at Arlington, WA back in the 50's. Unfortunately all that knowledge has disappeared. It looks like you have a whole new scale of engineering gong on. Fantastic!!!

That's JWL's engine stand. Uses the anti chatter rod holes in addition to the trans mount holes for supporting the early blocks. Fell in love with it when we rebuilt my engine at his place. FWIW JWL has been my primary inspiration.

I'm a noob, but this looks pretty much like I see on all the street cars today. Personally I'd rather trust mechanical vs. electrical, but... This has to have a whole lotta potential for wheel spin.

Re: Flathead Facts - what heads are these?
Yoyo, I am trying to connect emails with you to send some pictures of the head revisions for clearance at the water outlets. I do not know how to attach picture here.
Thanks for Ray mentioning I am his "inspiration" for all the stuff he does. However, the truth is, nobody else has the patience and passion to spend hours, days, weeks, and months doing some of the things he does. He is a self-taught expert with Solidworks and Mastercam and I can't hardly sign in to draw a straight line. He does the CNC programming in Mastercam while I have to do all of mine, block by block, with keyboard entries. He can clean plaster off the kitchen floor with such skill that his wife doesn't even know 5 gallons was spilled there. |
